Use the calculator in ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants
Checked against the Claude and ChatGPT help pages in October 2026.
Add the calculator to your AI assistant once, then ask in plain words: “Will 120 cartons fit in a 20ft?” The assistant runs the real calculator and answers with the fill rate, what did not fit, and a link to the 3D load plan. Free, and no account is needed.
https://app.3d.skyteamlabs.com/mcpPasting a prompt alone is not enough. A chat assistant can only use the calculator after you add it as a connector (a one-time setting, about a minute). Without it, the assistant answers from memory: it guesses, and it cannot give you a real 3D plan.
Claude (web, desktop app and phone)
Works on every Claude plan, including Free (Free allows one added connector).
- Open claude.ai or the Claude desktop app and go to Customize → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Name:
Container loading. URL:https://app.3d.skyteamlabs.com/mcp - If Claude asks how to sign in, choose No sign-in. Click Add.
- In a chat, click + → Connectors and make sure Container loading is switched on.
- Ask your question. The first time, Claude asks permission to use the calculator: click Allow.
On your phone: add the connector once on the web or desktop app; it then works in the
Claude phone app on the same account.
Team or Enterprise plan: only an Owner can add it, in Organization settings →
Connectors → Add → Custom. Members then click Connect.
ChatGPT
Only on some paid plans, on chatgpt.com in a web browser; not on the Free plan. OpenAI decides which plans get it and has changed this several times. In a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin has to allow custom connectors first.
- On chatgpt.com, open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins).
- Click + → Add custom MCP server.
- Name:
Container loading. Server URL:https://app.3d.skyteamlabs.com/mcp - Authentication: No authentication. Accept the warning (I understand and want to continue).
- Click Create as a plugin, then install it.
- Use it in a new chat. ChatGPT asks you to confirm each calculation; you can let it remember your answer for that chat.
If you don't see Add custom MCP server, your plan or workspace does not offer it yet. OpenAI moves this menu from time to time; its current guide is here. Connectors added on the web are not set up from the ChatGPT phone app.
Other assistants
- Gemini (gemini.google.com): Settings → Connected Apps → Add a custom app, then paste the address. Google offers this only in the US, in English, for adults with a personal Google account.
- Le Chat (Mistral): Connectors → Add Connector → Custom MCP Connector, paste the address, no authentication.
- Cursor, VS Code and other developer tools: add an MCP server of type “HTTP” with the address above.
These apps use the same open standard (MCP), but we have not tried each one ourselves. Their screens change often: if a step looks different, look for “connector”, “custom app” or “MCP server” in the settings.
What to ask
After connecting, paste one of these, or write your own. Sizes in cm or mm both work.
- Will 120 cartons 60×40×40 cm, 18 kg each fit in a 20ft container? Give me the 3D link.
- I have 24 EUR pallets 120×80×150 cm, 450 kg each, not stackable. Do they fit in a 40ft high cube, and how full is it?
- How many 40ft containers do I need for 900 cartons of 55×45×35 cm, 12 kg each? This side up.
- Compare a 20ft and a 40ft for 300 boxes of 50×50×50 cm, 25 kg. Which is the better choice?
Open the 3D link to turn the container around, step through the loading order, and download a PDF or Excel report.
If your assistant can't add connectors
Use the web calculator: same engine, same 3D plan, plus Excel import and saved plans with a free account. No setup needed.
Fair use and privacy
The calculator is free for AI assistants too. To keep it fast for everyone, there are fair-use limits; if the server is busy, the assistant is told to wait a few seconds and try again. For large or frequent plans, use the web calculator. The assistant sends the calculator only your cargo list (sizes, weights, quantities). Anyone you give a 3D link to can open it. See the privacy policy.
For developers
A public MCP server (streamable HTTP, no login). Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http 3d-loading https://app.3d.skyteamlabs.com/mcp
Tools: list_container_types, pack_cargo, get_packing_job,
create_share_link. Sizes in millimetres, weights in kilograms.
